Certification & Job Opportunities

Students

Upon completion of 100 flight hours (minimum Transport Canada requirement) and the required ground school hours, the student must pass a written Ministry of Transport exam for Commercial Pilots and pass a Ministry of Transport Flight Test.  The student is then issued a Commercial Pilot's License from Transport Canada and receives a Commercial Pilot Certificate from BC Helicopters Ltd.

After graduating, commercial helicopter pilots may expect to earn approximately $2000 - $3000 per month. As their experience grows, salaries will increase accordingly. After two years they should be able to earn approximately $45,000 annually. With additional or specialized skills it is possible to earn salaries in excess of $150,000. BC Helicopters cannot offer guarantees of employment upon completion of training. We do however have many contacts and connections within the helicopter industry and make it a policy to provide you with the best information and advice gained from years of experience in helping pilots get their start in this exciting career.
